Laser Cutting for Complex Filter Design / Filtration Industry
In the project highlighted here, a well-known international filtration company approached us at C.P. Eakes Company regarding the production of a new filter design. The filtration company is best known for their everyday oil filters, but had developed a high-end pharmaceutical filtration solution. This filter was complex, requiring several sections to be assembled into a filter with a diameter of several feet. Further complicating the design, the filter media was a seven-layer stainless steel mesh with each layer using an increasingly fine mesh, baked into a single composite filter media. The design required laser cutting, roll-forming a flange on the radiused edge of each filter section, and deburring the exposed wires of different mesh patterns, all while holding tight dimensional tolerances and not damaging the delicate outer meshes.
At C.P. Eakes Company, we measure our success in customer satisfaction and retention. Over two decades after this pharmaceutical filter was introduced, and after multiple design revisions, we still produce this design for the filtration company.
